(New York, NY/77WABC)-A 26-year-old Uber driver pulled over at 7th Ave. and Leroy St. demanding two passengers exit his cab during a dispute with the male passenger who refused to wear his mask as required due to Covid-19. Police say the male passenger proceeded to slash the plastic partition with a knife, brandished a firearm, and then removed his bag out of the trunk while forcibly removing the victim’s bookbag containing his wallet with credit cards.
The male and female suspects fled on foot and remain at large.
Police say the dispute began after the Uber driver picked up the two male passengers at approximately 8:30 pm on March 6th, 2021Â at the corner of 7th Avenue and West 33rd Street. After a verbal dispute between the driver and the male passenger regarding the male not wearing his mask, the driver then stopped at the corner of 7th Avenue and Leroy Street demanding both passengers to get out of the vehicle.
 Police say the male suspect is a dark-skinned man, slim build, and was last seen wearing a teal hood, black jacket with fur trim, black pants, black sneakers, blue face mask, and carrying a yellow shopping bag and a black bag.
There is a limited description of the female suspect who is only described as a dark-skinned female.
