New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, shown here at an event last month, defended the move to shift funds away from the city's police department.

NEW YORK CITY (77WABC) – Mayor de Blasio and 59 Assembly and Senate Democrats have officially called on Governor Cuomo to resign amid a flurry of sexual harassment allegations.  The latest accusation comes from a female staffer who claims the governor groped her under her blouse at the Executive Mansion in Albany.

At his daily news briefing Thursday morning, the mayor called the allegations Cuomo is facing “disgusting,” adding that he “can no longer serve as governor.”

“The latest report and the fact that we can talk about how many people are bringing forward accusations, that it’s not one, it’s not two, it’s not three, it’s not four, it’s not five, it’s six women who have come forward, it’s deeply troubling,” the mayor said.

The mayor also said loved ones of the 15 thousand nursing home resident who died as a result of Covid-19 deserve justice and that there was a “cover-up.”
