NYC Movie Theatres, Catered Events & Billiard and Pool Halls Resuming

(Albany, NY)-NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that NYC movie theatres can reopen at 25% capacity, no more than 50 people, beginning March 5th. Theatres were shutter last Spring due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

The Governor said social distancing guidelines will be in place similar to those which have been in effect in the rest of the state since Oct. 19th, 2020.

Social distancing guidelines include people wearing face masks however covid 19 testings is not mandated. Theatres must regulate attendance levels and have enhanced air filtration, ventilation, and purification in place.

The Governor also announced wedding and catered events can resume at 50% capacity with no more than 150 attendees at eachevent. “All patrons must be tested prior to the event,” said Cuomo “as I’ve said testing is the key.”  The local health department must be notified.

Billiards and pool halls can reopen on March 5th. Halls are restricted to 50% capacity outside NYC and 35% capacity in NYC. Masks and social distancing rules will be in effect and each party must be assigned to a table to avoid co-mingling.
