A NJ Teenager Charged In A Deadly Hit and Run On Staten Island

(Staten Island, NY)-The NYPD says a Rahway, NJ teenager faces a long list of charges after turning himself in to police after allegedly fleeing a deadly hit and run Tues. evening on Staten Island, NY.  A woman was killed, identified as 68-year-old Kauser Akhund of 150 Dawson Ave. on Staten Island, NY. The victim’s husband, 70-years-old, remains in critical condition at Richmond University Medical Center with head injuries.

Police say Prince Nesbitt-Hall of 1975 Paterson St. in Rahway, NJ turned himself in to police Wed. morning. He faces a slew of charges; Manslaughter, Assault, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Reckless Endangerment, Falsely Reporting an Incident, Reckless Driving, Motor Vehicle Violation: No License, Failed to Stop at a Stop Sign and speed Violation: Imprudent Speed.

The deadly crash occurred on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at approximately 6:19 pm at Lamberts Lane and Elson Street, within the confines of the 121 Precinct.  Police say a 2020 Honda Accord, driven by Nesbitt-Hall, traveling northbound on Elson Street, T-boned a 2009 Mercedes Benz traveling eastbound on Lamberts Lane, at the intersection. The teenager allegedly fled the scene on foot.

The 68-year-old female, who was the front-seat passenger in the Mercedes, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad continues to investigate the incident.
