Arson Investigators Probing A NJ Fire Which Killed Two Children

(Jersey City, NJ)-The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is investigating Wednesday night’s fire in Jersey City, NJ which left a brother and sister dead.

The Hudson County Prosecutors Office says an 11-month-old girl and an 8-month-old boy died as a result of the fire at 470  Martin Luter King Jr. Blvd. which began around 11:30 pm last night.

The mother of the two victims was able to escape the home with a third child, a 6-year-old son.

The prosecutor’s office says the 11-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 8-m0nth-old brother was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:24 am.

Authorities say two victims were found by firefighters on the second floor of the residence.

Three police officers were treated for smoke inhalation.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

Neighboring residents were evacuated as a precaution and provided with shelter.
