(OZONE PARK, Queens-77WABC) -Covid-19 has claimed the life of a 30-year veteran of The FDNY.
The Department says 61-year old Joe Ferrugia is the first active-duty member of the FDNY to die in 2021 due to Covid-19. Ferrugia was a member of
Ladder Company 142 in Queens.

The department says Ferrugia was among the many first responders who served during the September 11 attacks at the World Trade Center.
Ferrugia leaves behind three children.
The Firefighters Union describes the loss as ‘heartbreaking’ and ‘devastating.’
