COVID19VACCINE
As of Tuesday, New York City’s on-hand supply of first-dose coronavirus vaccine shots has dropped to about 7,700 according to Mayor Bill de Blasio which is down from about 19 thousand the day before.
The mayor is pleading with officials to loosen restrictions on how many second-dose shots must sit on ice in reserve. New supplies from the federal government are set to come into the city on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The severe vaccine shortage which is now causing the cancellation of appointments and shutting down of vaccination sites is the result of production delays and a federal allotment out of sync with New York’s demand according to city officials.
