Spirit Airlines cancels flights to New York, New Jersey and Connecticut

Spirit Airlines team showed off its new A320neo aircraft at their Metro Airport hanger Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019. The A320neo includes lighter seats with a sleeker design created by UK-based Acro Aircraft Seating with thicker padding and ergonomically-designed lumbar support that offers more knee space and a one inch wider middle seat.

NEW YORK (77 WABC) — Spirit Airlines suspended all flights to New York, New Jersey and Connecticut on Monday in response to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Coronavirus travel advisory.

The budget airline will halt flights to New York LaGuardia (LGA), Newark (EWR), Hartford (BDL), Niagara Falls (IAG), and Plattsburgh (PBG) through at least May 4. All Spirit Airlines flights to the tri-state area will be completely stopped by mid-week

Spirit is the first major U.S. carrier to stop service to the tri-state area since the Coronavirus pandemic began.
