(Chicago, Illinois) – The Windy City is no stranger to gun violence in its city. The city saw 1,355 shooting victims in 2025, and now they are well on pace to surpass that number.
According to the city’s website, Chicago is already at 1,338 victims of gun violence in 2026, just about 30 shy of surpassing the amount of violence it say last year, with still 3 months left to go in the year. In fact, Chicago has already passed its number of fatal deaths to gun violence, last year the city saw 251 lives lost to the violence, this year – 270.
The grim total comes as Mayor Brandon Johnson continues to face pressure over violent crime in the city, with many on the right, and some on the left saying they’re unsure if he’s capable of nailing down the issue.
