(Columbia, SC) – Darline Graham is asking South Carolina voters to let her keep the Senate seat she was appointed to fill after the death of her brother, Lindsey Graham.

Her campaign is already drawing attention because she is backing an end to the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster, saying the change would allow President Trump’s agenda to move through Congress more quickly.

The position marks a sharp break from the Senate tradition her brother often defended during his career. It also places Graham in the middle of a long-running fight over whether major legislation should require broad bipartisan support or a simple majority.

Supporters of ending the filibuster say voters deserve action from the party in power. Opponents warn the move would give either party sweeping authority whenever it controls the White House and both chambers of Congress.
