(New York, New York) – New York City faces another unsettled stretch Thursday, with the National Weather Service calling for showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon and evening.

Forecasters expect a high near 79 with southwest winds around 10 mph and a 70 percent chance of rain. The best chance for storms comes before early evening, with a quarter to a half inch of rain possible in some spots.

Thursday night stays muggy, with a low around 73 and more chances for showers and storms before 2 a.m. Friday turns warmer, reaching near 86, with another chance of storms after 2 p.m.

Saturday still carries a chance of rain showers, but Sunday looks much cleaner. The city is expected to see sunshine and a high near 82 to close out the weekend.

Anyone with outdoor plans should keep an eye on the sky through Saturday, then expect a better window for beaches, parks and travel on Sunday.
