(Washington, DC) – Secretary of State Marco Rubio pushed back during a heated House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing after Rep. Sara Jacobs pressed him on the 2020 election and then turned to comments about his shoes.
Rubio fired back by questioning why the committee was talking about footwear instead of foreign policy.
He asked whether the hearing was the Foreign Affairs Committee or “a circus,” cutting through the exchange as tensions rose.
The moment quickly spread online, with Rubio’s supporters saying he shut down a political stunt during a serious foreign policy hearing.
Critics argue Jacobs was pressing Rubio on broader political issues and accountability, but the exchange shifted when the hearing turned personal.
Rubio’s response turned the moment into another viral clash between the Trump administration and congressional Democrats.
