(New York, New York) – New York City is headed for a hotter and more humid finish to the week, with Friday and Saturday likely to feel noticeably warmer than the start of June. Forecast guidance points to the urban corridor getting the strongest heat signal, especially Manhattan and Staten Island if sea breezes stay limited.

The National Weather Service is watching the combination of rising temperatures and higher dew points. If the humidity runs a little higher than expected, heat index values could approach the mid-90s in parts of the city and nearby New Jersey.

For commuters and anyone working outside, the key change is the humidity. Temperatures alone may not look extreme at first glance, but the added moisture will make the late-week air feel heavier and less forgiving.
