(New York, New York) – The New York area should get a mostly dry stretch through the weekend before rain chances return early next week. The latest local forecast keeps Friday sunny, Saturday mainly dry and Sunday sunny, with the next chance of showers arriving Monday afternoon.
The pattern gives the city a short break after recent unsettled weather and a frontal passage that brought cooler air into the region. Forecasters are also watching smaller disturbances moving through the Northeast, but widespread rain is not expected for the city through the heart of the weekend.
By Monday and Tuesday, shower chances increase again as the next system approaches. The rain risk does not look like a major storm signal right now, but commuters and anyone planning outdoor work early next week should keep an eye on the timing.
