(New York, New York) – A group of demonstrators gathered Tuesday outside the Upper East Side home of businessman John Catsimatidis, directing their protest at the residence where his family lives.
The rally, organized by Citizen Action of New York, focused on economic concerns and calls for policy changes, with demonstrators urging New York Governor Kathy Hochul to take a tougher stance on wealthy donors and tax policy.
Protesters chanted and voiced frustration over the rising cost of living and what they described as unequal influence in state politics, choosing to bring their message directly to Catsimatidis’ home.
In response, Catsimatidis came outside and spoke with members of the crowd in a calm exchange. According to those present, both sides acknowledged that New York faces real challenges and needs improvement.
Catsimatidis made clear he is open to solutions and said he supports efforts to improve conditions for New Yorkers, adding that he is on board with taking action—as long as resources are directed to the right places and used effectively.
While differences remain, the interaction ended with a shared understanding that change is needed and a willingness, at least in part, to continue the conversation.
