(New York, New York) – Lara Trump is sounding the alarm on the future of New York City, arguing that current leadership is driving residents away.
During an appearance on Cats & Cosby on 77 WABC Radio, Trump criticized policies associated with New York City leadership, including Mayor Zohran Mamdani, claiming they are making life harder for everyday residents.
“No one wants to stay in a city where the government is working against them,” Trump said during the interview.
Her comments come amid ongoing debates over crime, cost of living, and quality of life in the city — issues that have fueled concerns about an exodus of residents and businesses in recent years.
Trump suggested that policies she views as overly restrictive or out of touch with residents’ needs are contributing to frustration among New Yorkers, particularly working- and middle-class families.
The remarks also highlight the growing political divide over how cities like New York should be governed, with critics arguing current leadership is prioritizing ideology over public safety and economic stability, while supporters say reforms are necessary to address inequality and modern urban challenges.
Mayor Mamdani has not directly responded to Trump’s comments.
The conversation adds to an increasingly heated national discussion over the direction of major U.S. cities — and whether their policies are helping or hurting the people who live there.
