(Washington, DC) – President Donald Trump said the United States may ultimately have the “honor” of “taking” Cuba as the communist-run island faces a deepening energy crisis that has left millions without power.

The remark comes after Cuban officials confirmed Monday that the country’s electrical system suffered a “complete disconnection,” triggering an island-wide blackout affecting the nation’s roughly 11 million residents. The Ministry of Energy and Mines said it is investigating the collapse of the power grid, which marks the third major blackout in four months.
