(Los Angeles, California) – A Los Angeles high school was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after police received reports of possible armed suspects near the campus, authorities said.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers responded to Los Angeles High School on Olympic Boulevard after someone reported that two men may have been armed with guns on or near the school grounds.

Police quickly moved to secure the campus and placed the school on lockdown as a precaution while officers searched the area.

After conducting a sweep of the campus and surrounding streets, authorities said they found no evidence of suspects and no shots were fired.

Officials said the campus was cleared out of an abundance of caution, and there was no immediate indication of an ongoing threat.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the initial report. Police have not announced any arrests as the investigation continues.
