(New York, New York) – A viral social media post is drawing attention online after a user sharply criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer over his comments about the proposed Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.

Schumer recently condemned the legislation, saying it would have sweeping consequences for voters across the United States.

“The SAVE Act is Jim Crow 2.0. It would disenfranchise tens of millions of people,” Schumer said in remarks criticizing the bill.

The New York Democrat also warned that Senate Democrats would refuse to support the legislation under any circumstances.

“If Trump is saying he won’t sign any bills until the SAVE Act is passed, then so be it: there will be total gridlock in the Senate,” Schumer said. “Senate Democrats will not help pass the SAVE Act under any circumstances.”

Following those comments, a social media user posted a blunt response directed at the senator, accusing him of misleading the public about the legislation. The post quickly began circulating online, drawing strong reactions from both supporters and critics of the bill.

The SAVE Act has become a flashpoint in the national debate over election laws. Supporters argue the measure is designed to ensure that only U.S. citizens vote in federal elections by requiring proof of citizenship during voter registration.

Critics, including Schumer and other Democrats, argue the requirement could create barriers for eligible voters who may not easily have access to documentation such as birth certificates or passports.

The debate over the legislation comes amid renewed focus on election integrity policies in Washington and across several states.

With both sides digging in, Schumer’s warning of potential legislative gridlock highlights how contentious the issue has become in Congress.

As the discussion continues, the viral response to Schumer’s remarks underscores the intensity of the national conversation surrounding voting laws and election security.
