(Washington, DC) – President Donald Trump outlined a series of policy proposals he called the “Save America Act” in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, listing several election and social policy priorities.
In the post, Trump proposed a set of five measures he said are aimed at strengthening election integrity and addressing cultural and political issues currently debated across the country.
Among the proposals outlined were requiring voter identification for all voters, mandating proof of U.S. citizenship in order to vote, and limiting the use of mail-in ballots, with exceptions only for illness, disability, military service, or travel.
Trump also included proposals related to athletics and medical treatments involving minors. The post called for barring transgender athletes assigned male at birth from competing in women’s sports and banning gender-transition surgeries for children, which he described as “transgender mutilation surgery.”
The list was presented as a legislative agenda Trump said should be adopted nationally.
Debates surrounding voter identification laws and mail-in voting have intensified in recent years, particularly following the 2020 and 2024 election cycles. Supporters of stricter voting rules argue the measures are necessary to protect election integrity, while critics say such policies can create barriers for some voters.
Similarly, policies involving transgender athletes and gender-transition treatments for minors have become major political flashpoints across the United States, with states passing widely varying laws on the issues.
Trump did not provide further legislative details in the post, but the proposals align with positions he and many Republican lawmakers have promoted in recent years.
The statement quickly circulated online and drew responses from both supporters and critics as debate continues over election laws and policies involving transgender rights.
