Aaron Marin Campaign
(Charlotte, North Carolina) — A Republican candidate in North Carolina says he will continue his campaign for county office after his home was struck by gunfire while he and his family were inside.
Aaron Marin, a Republican running for County Commission District 1 in Charlotte, said multiple shots were fired at his property while he was inside with his wife and children. According to Marin, between seven and ten shots were fired at the home in what local authorities have described as a targeted attack.
Photos shared following the incident show bullet holes in Marin’s mailbox, vehicles, and a basketball hoop belonging to one of his children, highlighting the damage caused during the shooting.
Despite the incident, Marin says he has no intention of withdrawing from the race.
“I will not be intimidated,” Marin said, confirming that he plans to continue his campaign against Democratic opponents in the upcoming election.
Local police are investigating the shooting and have indicated the attack appears to have been directed at the residence. No injuries were reported, and authorities have not yet publicly identified a suspect.
The incident has drawn attention online, with some supporters criticizing what they say is a lack of national media coverage despite the seriousness of the attack.
Marin says he remains focused on his campaign and on ensuring the safety of his family as the investigation continues.
