(West Orange, New Jersey) – Sid Rosenberg issued a public apology after a social media post attacking New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani sparked backlash across the city’s political landscape during the first hour of his show, Sid & Friends in the Morning, on Wednesday morning, while doing it live outside GANJ, in West Orange.
Rosenberg shared a message acknowledging the controversy surrounding a tweet he posted over the weekend, writing that he wanted to address those who were offended by his comments. “To the mayor, and anyone else that I offended with my tweet on Saturday, I send out a heartfelt apology,” Rosenberg said in the statement.
The apology comes after Rosenberg reignited controversy on X earlier this week following his return to the platform after a previous suspension. In the post, the longtime 77 WABC Radio host had directed a message to former President Donald Trump criticizing Mamdani and using inflammatory language that quickly drew condemnation from several Democratic figures in New York.
Critics argued the rhetoric crossed a line and called on Rosenberg to walk back his comments, while supporters defended the host as exercising his right to political speech.
Rosenberg’s new statement appears to signal an effort to defuse the situation, offering a direct apology to the mayor and others who took offense to the remarks. It remains unclear whether Mamdani or city officials plan to respond to the apology.
