(New York, New York) – Team USA’s success on the ice is already fueling motivation on the diamond.
New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge revealed that the Team USA World Baseball Classic group chat was buzzing after Team USA captured gold in hockey — and it was filled with photos of star forward Jack Hughes.
Judge shared the anecdote during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, saying the baseball squad took notice of the hockey team’s championship moment.
“Now we get a chance to throw on the red, white and blue and copy what they did,” Judge said.
The comment highlights the cross-sport camaraderie among American athletes, with Team USA’s hockey triumph serving as added inspiration for the baseball team as it prepares for international competition.
Hughes, one of the faces of American hockey, played a key role in the gold medal run, and the victory quickly became a rallying point for other U.S. teams.
With the World Baseball Classic approaching, Judge and his teammates appear eager to match the success — and bring home hardware of their own.
