(New York, NY) – Reports say that members of Iran’s senior leadership have been killed following attacks launched against the Middle Eastern country. The attack involved US military cruise missiles and other air cover, while Israeli jets took out key targets on the ground. Various outlets have said that Iran’s defense minister, justice minister, and the head of the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) have all been killed.
The death of the Iranian justice minister is significant in terms of recent events. He’s the individual who oversaw the alleged execution of thousands of protesters during recent uprisings, as Iranian citizens have been taking to the streets since late December 2025. In response, a brutal crackdown ensued, in which IRGC troops went after patients in hospitals.
President Trump addressed the nation overnight and provided details of the operation.
This was a coordinated series of airstrikes and missile attacks targeting Iranian military, nuclear-related, missile production, command-and-control, and regime leadership sites across cities like Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, Karaj, and Kermanshah.
The strikes followed failed nuclear negotiations, with President Trump announcing “major combat operations” to degrade Iran’s missile capabilities, prevent nuclear weapon development, and potentially lead to regime change. Trump urged Iranian forces (especially IRGC) to surrender or face “certain death,” while offering immunity to those who laid down arms.
