Long before her sons became household names in the NHL, Ellen Weinberg-Hughes was proudly wearing the red, white and blue herself.

In 1992, she represented the United States women’s national ice hockey team, helping bring home a silver medal and laying the groundwork for what would become one of the most accomplished hockey families in America.

More than three decades later, her sons carried that legacy even further.

The Hughes Brothers Era

In 2026, Jack Hughes and Quinn Hughes represented the United States men’s national ice hockey team, helping deliver gold and cementing the Hughes name in USA Hockey history.

But the story doesn’t stop there.

There’s a third brother — and he’s just as elite.

Enter: Luke Hughes

The youngest Hughes brother has rapidly become one of the NHL’s most dynamic young defensemen. Known for his skating, offensive instincts, and composure under pressure, Luke has already shown flashes of star-level talent early in his professional career.

All three brothers were first-round NHL draft picks. All three are impact players. And all three grew up in a household where international hockey wasn’t just a dream — it was the standard.

From Ellen’s silver in 1992…
To Jack and Quinn’s gold in 2026…
To Luke rising as one of the league’s brightest young stars…

The Hughes family isn’t just part of USA Hockey history.

They’re building a dynasty.
