(New York, New York) – A New York City woman is speaking out in frustration over what she describes as deteriorating conditions since Mayor Zohran Mamdani took office, claiming the state of the streets has become “unrecognizable.”
“I’ve lived in NYC my whole life and never seen anything like this,” the woman said in a social media post that quickly began circulating online. “The sidewalks are literally filled with s—.”
The remarks reflect growing anger from some residents who say quality-of-life issues — including sanitation, homelessness and street conditions — have worsened in recent months. Critics of the administration argue the city feels less orderly and less safe, pointing to visible street-level problems as evidence.
Supporters of the mayor, however, have pushed back on similar claims in the past, arguing that complex urban issues predate the current administration and require long-term solutions rather than quick fixes.
City officials have not yet responded to the specific viral complaint.
