(Washington, DC) – Florida State Senator Randy Fine is drawing attention — and plenty of chuckles online — after making a tongue-in-cheek comment about having to show identification throughout his day.

Fine said, “Today’s been a pretty racist day for me. I had to show my photo ID at the airport, to pick up a rental car, and to get my prescription.”

The remark appeared to poke fun at arguments that voter ID laws are discriminatory. Fine, a vocal supporter of voter identification requirements, has long argued that showing ID is a routine part of everyday life in the United States.

Clips of the quote quickly spread across social media, where many users said they found the comment humorous, framing it as satire aimed at critics of voter ID laws. Supporters praised Fine for what they described as highlighting perceived inconsistencies in arguments against ID requirements.

Others, however, criticized the comment as dismissive of broader concerns surrounding access to identification and voting rights.

Regardless of the political divide, the quote has generated significant online engagement, with many users circulating the line as a viral moment.
