(New York, New York) – After spending the past year in Ireland, comedian Rosie O’Donnell quietly returned to the United States for a brief family visit — despite previously leaving the country over political tensions.

O’Donnell moved to Ireland in January 2025 with her 13-year-old daughter, Clay, citing safety fears and criticism from Donald Trump, including social media posts in which he called her a “threat to humanity.” At the time, she framed the move as a step toward peace and stability.

Now, after two low-key weeks back in America to visit family — including a son expecting his first child — O’Donnell described the country’s “energy” as “scary,” though she said it was manageable.

Despite her critiques, she made the trip home to see loved ones and has said she has no regrets about relocating overseas. O’Donnell is reportedly exploring dual citizenship and considering returning to the U.S. again this summer with her daughter.

For someone who left in dramatic fashion, America still seems to be the place to come back to when it matters most.
