(Tuscon, Arizona) – Fourteen days after Nancy Guthrie vanished from her home, investigators executed a late-night search warrant near her residence, but authorities say no arrests have been made and no one is currently in custody.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Saturday that deputies shut down a residential street roughly two miles from Guthrie’s home as part of an active investigation. The operation, which began Friday night, lasted several hours before officers cleared the scene.
Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators were “just tracking down leads” and reiterated that the activity involved the execution of a search warrant. He declined to release additional details at the request of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Gray Range Rover Towed From Parking Lot
Later that night, deputies and FBI personnel converged on a nearby Culver’s parking lot, where they extensively photographed a late-model gray Range Rover before towing it away. Authorities have not confirmed whether the vehicle is directly tied to Guthrie’s disappearance.
By Saturday morning, the previously sealed-off residential street was quiet again. Residents reported seeing dozens of law enforcement vehicles in the area for approximately four hours.
DNA Evidence and Gloves Under Review
Sheriff Nanos revealed in interviews Friday that investigators recovered DNA from Guthrie’s property that does not belong to anyone in close contact with her. The material has been sent for testing.
Additionally, investigators are analyzing a pair of gloves found about two miles from her home. The gloves are said to resemble those worn by a masked man captured in doorbell camera footage released earlier this week. That footage showed a man, approximately 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 with an average build, carrying a black Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack and wearing a holstered handgun the night Guthrie was taken.
Authorities say they cannot yet confirm whether the recovered gloves match those seen in the footage.
Investigation Continues
Guthrie disappeared on Feb. 1, and the case is now being investigated as a kidnapping. The FBI has increased its reward to up to $100,000 for information leading to her location or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved.
Despite what Sheriff Nanos described as moments of disappointment — including detaining a person earlier this week who was later cleared — he expressed confidence that Guthrie will be found.
“We will continue this search,” he said, emphasizing that the investigation will move forward for “days, months, or years” if necessary.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact law enforcement as the search intensifies.
