(Washington, DC) – According to reports, Rep. Ilhan Omar and her husband are facing charges as House Republicans move to investigate his reported business activities in Somalia, Kenya, and the United Arab Emirates.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has formally requested a review of financial records and international dealings tied to Omar’s husband, including ventures connected to investment operations and other business interests overseas. Lawmakers are seeking documentation related to foreign travel, communications, and the source of capital involved in those enterprises.
The inquiry follows disclosures showing a significant rise in the couple’s reported net worth in recent years — a jump Republicans say warrants closer examination.
Omar’s office has pushed back, calling the investigation politically motivated and arguing that financial disclosures have been transparent and lawful.
At this stage, no criminal charges have been filed, and the review remains ongoing.
