(Washington, DC) – President Donald Trump said Democrats refuse to pass voter ID laws because, in his words, “they want to continue to cheat in elections.”
Speaking about election integrity, Trump vowed that voter identification requirements will be in place for the upcoming midterm elections.
“There will be voter ID for the midterm elections, whether approved by Congress or not,” he said.
Democrats have long opposed strict voter ID measures, arguing they can disenfranchise eligible voters. Republicans, including Trump, say such laws are necessary to ensure election security and restore public confidence in the voting process.
The remarks are likely to intensify the ongoing national debate over voting laws ahead of the midterms.
