A combination of images captured by a security camera show what the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) describes as an armed individual at Nancy Guthrie’s home in Tucson
(Tuscon, AZ) – Authorities in Arizona detained a person in connection with the Nancy Guthrie case, but the man is telling local news outlets that he has no knowledge of who the missing woman even is. Officials in Arizona released the man after several hours of questioning. The 84-year-old mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie was first reported missing from her home on February 1st.
The man, identified as Carlos Palazuelos, spoke with local KNXV reporter Ford Hatchett about the whole ordeal. He says cops told him he was being detained for kidnapping. The man says while he may have previously delivered a package to Guthrie, he was not guilty of the serious allegations against him. He was detained after a traffic stop about an hour south of Tucson in Rio Rico, close to the southern border.

Law enforcement say the man was detained based on investigative leads, however no charges have been filed against the man. He told Telemundo that his back and front door were left damaged after authorities executed a search warrant at his home. Palazuelos says he does not even watch the news and was not aware of the case. He also claims he was not read his rights for hours into questioning.

Meanwhile, Pima County Sheriff’s office and the FBI have released new photos of persons of interest. A man in gloves, facemask and brandishing a gun is caught on video trying to obstruct the doorbell camera’s view. The suspect even grabs some vegetation on the side of the house to cover the lens. FBI Director Kash Patel is once again urging anyone with information to contact authorities.
Additional recovered footage, from the same camera – at the same timeline the morning of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. This footage is just before the original video shared, with the individual approaching Nancy Guthrie’s front door.
