Voters split over whether abolish police department, in Minneapolis
(New York, NY) — New images in the search for Nancy Guthrie were released Tuesday afternoon. FBI Director Kash Patel posted the images, along with video, on his X feed. He said, “Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.”
This news comes after reports said Guthrie’s doorbell camera did not have a subscription that would have housed data up to the cloud. Security expert Matt Sailor says in general doorbell cameras are meant more for notification. He says, “What are they really useful for? To notify you that someone’s at the door or that a package was delivered.” Sailor adds, ” They shouldn’t be used as a mainstay when it comes to protecting your home, your loved ones or your assets.”
Sailor said it’s important to keep your property visually protected. “You can’t have a singular camera on your home or business or any facility.” and adds, “Even a small property should have a minimum of four-to-six cameras. You have a front door, back door and garage.”
Sailor also has advice for those thinking about purchasing a home security camera system. “If you have a Wi-Fi only camera and it’s jammed, (you can buy a jammer on line,) means the signal never got to the cloud. But, if the device was taken and the signal was not jammed, means the information, video and audio should have already been on the cloud prior to them ripping the camera off the wall.” This appears to be the case with Guthrie’s camera.
He adds that having a camera doorbell subscription that houses data up to the cloud is a good idea.
