(New York, NY) — New York Governor Kathy Hochul and the MTA are doing a victory lap, claiming Congestion Pricing has been a rousing success one year into the program.
February 5, 2026 marked one year of congestion pricing in New York City. The MTA says it’s led to congestion relief. They say on average, 73 thousand fewer vehicles entered Manhattan below 60th Street every day in the last year, traffic speeds during rush hour were up 23 percent, and traffic collisions in the zone down seven percent.
Economically, the MTA reached its revenue target of 500-million dollars, which it’s now using on capital improvements on the Subways, Buses, and commuter rail lines.
