(Washington, DC) – Kevin Warsh is a former Federal Reserve governor and longtime economic policymaker who has been tapped by Donald Trump to serve as the next chair of the Federal Reserve, pending confirmation.
Warsh served on the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors from 2006 to 2011, playing a visible role during the 2008 financial crisis, where he acted as a key liaison between the Fed and financial markets. He was appointed during the George W. Bush administration and became one of the youngest governors in modern Fed history.
Before joining the Fed, Warsh worked at Morgan Stanley and later served on the White House National Economic Council, advising on economic and financial policy. After leaving government, he became affiliated with Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, where he has remained an outspoken critic of certain Federal Reserve policies and a vocal advocate for central bank credibility.
Warsh holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a law degree from Harvard Law School. He is married to Jane Lauder, a member of the Estée Lauder family.
Often described as a monetary policy “hawk,” Warsh is known for emphasizing inflation control, financial stability, and institutional independence—views that have kept him closely watched by both Wall Street and Washington.
