(Washington, DC) — “Melania” premiered January 29th at the Trump-Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. The documentary about 20 days in the life of First Lady Melania Trump will screen to a crowd of conservative VIPs, including many members of the administration, along with the film’s director Brett Ratner.
Will the Trump children be attending?
- Barron Trump, 19, is not expected to join his mother for the premiere of Melania at the Kennedy Center despite appearing on the cast list of the documentary.
- Ivanka Trump, 44, who has a famously rocky relationship with her stepmother, and her husband, Jared Kushner are skipping the affair too.
- Eric Trump, 42, and his wife, Lara, 43, are also no-shows.
- Donald Trump Jr., 48, is expected to walk the Kennedy Center’s black carpet with his fiancée, Bettina Anderson, 39.
- It’s unclear if Tiffany Trump, 32, Donald Trump’s only child with Marla Maples, will attend the premiere.
“Melania,” the new documentary about the first lady, scheduled to open worldwide on January 30th, has been pulled from theaters in South Africa after the film’s local distributor said on Wednesday that it would no longer release it. “Based on recent developments, we’ve taken the decision to not go ahead with a theatrical release in territory,” said Thobashan Govindarajulu, the head of sales and marketing for the distributor, Filmfinity. Mr. Govindarajulu declined to say what recent developments had led to the decision.
Theaters have reported thin advanced ticket sales, despite Amazon investing $40 million for the rights to the film and spending tens of millions more on marketing, which industry analysts saw as a big risk. The film opens at more than 15-hundred theaters this weekend.
