(Fulton County, Georgia) – The Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a court-authorized search warrant Wednesday at the Fulton County election office in Union City, Georgia, in an investigation connected to the 2020 presidential election, according to federal officials.
An FBI spokesperson confirmed agents were “executing a court-authorized law enforcement action” at the county’s main election facility just south of Atlanta, but declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing investigation. The U.S. Department of Justice has not publicly commented on the scope of the search or what materials may have been sought.
Fulton County, Georgia’s most populous county and home to Atlanta, played a decisive role in the 2020 election, delivering the largest Democratic margin in the state as Joe Biden narrowly defeated Donald Trump statewide. The county has remained a focal point of political and legal scrutiny stemming from post-election challenges and record-access disputes tied to that vote.
Officials noted that the Union City election office is not the same location as State Farm Arena, where a burst pipe briefly delayed absentee ballot counting on Election Night in 2020. That incident occurred at a separate facility used temporarily for ballot processing.
Local election officials said they were not given advance notice of the federal action. No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
