(Washington, DC) – Former Vice President Mike Pence issued a statement following the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, calling for a full and transparent investigation while emphasizing public safety, law enforcement cooperation, and constitutional rights.

In the statement, Pence said his prayers were with Pretti’s family, the people of Minneapolis, and local, state, and federal law enforcement officers serving in the area. He described the images from the incident as “deeply troubling” and said an immediate and thorough review of the officer-involved shooting should take place.

Pence also stressed the importance of coordination among law enforcement agencies at all levels to address concerns within the community. At the same time, he said authorities must ensure that individuals considered public safety threats are apprehended and prevented from harming families in Minneapolis.

The former vice president added that Americans deserve safe streets, enforcement of the law, and the protection of constitutional rights, including freedom of speech, peaceful assembly, and the right to keep and bear arms, arguing that public safety and individual freedoms should be upheld together.

The statement comes as investigations continue into the shooting of Alex Pretti, which has sparked protests and renewed national debate over immigration enforcement and law enforcement accountability.
