(Minneapolis, Minnesota) – Federal immigration officials say anti-ICE protesters escalated demonstrations Friday morning by attempting to block agents from leaving an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Minneapolis, arriving with a U-Haul truck allegedly filled with riot shields.
According to a senior ICE official, protesters positioned themselves near building exits and used shields to obstruct agents from leaving, a move authorities described as an effort to disrupt federal operations amid ongoing protests over immigration enforcement in the Twin Cities.
The incident quickly set off a wave of reactions on X, where users called for aggressive action and accountability. Some posts read, “Call the military,” while others demanded, “Arrest all domestic terrorists!” Another widely shared comment asked, “Who’s funding this madness?”
Officials said the situation was still developing Friday morning and did not immediately confirm whether arrests had been made. Federal authorities warned that blocking agents or attempting to confine them inside a government building could carry serious legal consequences as law enforcement continued to monitor the scene.
