(Washington, DC) – President Donald Trump is set to formally launch his Board of Peace with a signing ceremony Thursday morning in Davos, Switzerland, turning the World Economic Forum into the stage for one of the most ambitious, and controversial, foreign policy initiatives of his second term.

According to the White House, the board will oversee the next phase of Trump’s 20-point peace plan and guide the reconstruction of post-war Gaza. Trump is expected to meet with global leaders throughout the week in Davos before signing the board’s charter. Invitations have gone out to a sweeping list of world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as leaders from the United Kingdom, Israel, Canada, France, Brazil, Egypt, Turkey, and Argentina.

As invitations circulate, countries are beginning to reveal whether they’ll join, or opt out.

According to reports, nations invited include Albania, Argentina, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Hungary, Jordan, Pakistan, Paraguay, and Turkey, along with dozens more named by Bloomberg sources, including Germany, Japan, India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Ukraine, and the European Commission. Belarus has also confirmed it received an invitation.

Several leaders have already agreed to participate. Argentine President Javier Milei and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán have confirmed they’re joining, while Morocco, Vietnam, and Kazakhstan have reportedly signed on. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said he has agreed in principle, though final details are still being negotiated.

Others are refusing – most notably France. A senior French official said Paris does not plan to join, citing concerns over how the board’s charter interacts with the United Nations’ role in global conflict resolution. Trump responded bluntly, threatening a 200% tariff on French wine and Champagne, saying President Emmanuel Macron would “join very quickly” once tariffs hit.

The board’s executive lineup already includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and billionaire investors Robert Gabriel and Marc Rowan. Permanent membership is expected to carry a $1 billion fee, with funds earmarked for rebuilding Gaza, while shorter appointments would avoid the cost.
