A resident braves the cold as another round of arctic air blasts the midwest, keeping the wind chill in the negative numbers, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
(New York, NY) — A powerful Arctic blast is sweeping into the tri-state area this week, sending temperatures plunging across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut and delivering a sharp reminder that winter is far from over. Frigid air from Canada is expected to drive wind chills into the single digits and below zero at times, making it feel brutally cold even during daylight hours. Forecasters say the cold snap could be the most intense of the season so far, with overnight lows dipping into the teens and single digits in many spots, and even colder readings in outlying suburbs.

The icy conditions are prompting warnings for commuters, school districts, and anyone spending time outdoors. Gusty winds will add to the bite, increasing the risk of frostbite for exposed skin and placing added strain on heating systems and those who are vulnerable to the bitter cold. Officials are urging residents to bundle up, check on elderly neighbors, and limit time outside when possible, as the Arctic air settles in and tightens its grip on the region through the week.
