Tri-State Expecting More Snow!

(New York, New York) – Winter isn’t done with the Tri-State just yet. Forecasters are tracking two separate weather systems that could bring accumulating snow to parts of the New York City area this weekend.

The first round arrives late Friday into early Saturday, with a fast-moving system expected to bring a light coating of snow across parts of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Snow showers may develop overnight, especially north and west of the city, before tapering off Saturday morning.

Saturday: Light Snow, Slick Spots Possible

Saturday’s system appears manageable, with most areas seeing anywhere from a trace to about 3 inches of snow, depending on location. Temperatures will hover in the upper 30s, which could allow for some melting, but slick roads remain possible — especially during the morning hours.

Sunday: Coastal Storm Could Raise Totals

Attention then turns to Sunday, when a developing coastal storm offshore could complicate the forecast. While the system is expected to remain mostly offshore, it may track close enough to send additional snow back toward the region, particularly south and east of New York City.

If the storm edges closer, snowfall totals could increase in those areas. High temperatures remain in the 30s, keeping conditions cold enough for wintry precipitation.

Chilly Start to the Weekend

Friday began on a bitter note, with wind chills in the single digits during the morning hours. Sunshine helps through the afternoon, but cold and breezy conditions persist, with wind chills staying in the 20s.

As temperatures drop Friday night, residents are urged to stay alert for snow showers and icy conditions, especially ahead of the weekend travel period.

Forecasters say snowfall totals and impacts — particularly for Sunday — will become clearer as the coastal storm takes shape.
