(Washington, DC) – The U.S. Department of Justice is allegedly examining whether Tim Walz and Jacob Frey may have unlawfully interfered with federal immigration enforcement operations.
Sources say the inquiry centers on public statements and actions by the governor and Minneapolis mayor amid recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in the Twin Cities. Federal officials are reviewing whether those actions could amount to obstruction of ICE’s duties.
The investigation follows days of heightened tensions in Minneapolis, where protests and confrontations broke out during federal immigration operations. No charges have been filed, and neither official has been formally accused of wrongdoing.
The Department of Justice has not commented publicly on the status or scope of the probe.
