(Detroit, Michighan) – President Donald Trump said Tuesday that his administration is “making America affordable again,” touting what he described as a historic economic turnaround during remarks to the Detroit Economic Club.

Speaking to business leaders and executives, Trump claimed his return to office has already produced the greatest economic turnaround in U.S. history.

Trump said, his administration has orchestrated the greatest economic turnaround the United States has ever seen.

Trump’s remarks came the same day new economic data showed consumer prices rose less than expected in December, a report the president pointed to as evidence that inflation is beginning to cool.

Earlier in the day, Trump toured a Ford manufacturing plant in Dearborn, where he highlighted his administration’s global tariff strategy. Trump claimed those tariffs have pressured automakers to shift production away from Mexico and Canada and bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States.

He framed the move as part of a broader effort to strengthen domestic manufacturing and lower costs for American consumers, arguing that bringing production home will stabilize supply chains and reduce long-term price pressures.

Trump’s appearance in Michigan comes as his administration continues to emphasize economic messaging centered on inflation, manufacturing, and trade policy, with the president frequently using the phrase “Making America Affordable Again” as a central theme of his economic agenda.
