The roughly 30-second clip, first posted to Reddit’s r/nyc forum, captures a woman booing Adams as he walks through the terminal. Adams, 65, responds sharply: “I’m not mayor anymore. Go f*** yourself,” before adding, “You’re gonna see the Brooklyn in me.”
The confrontation quickly spread across social media, racking up millions of views and sparking a polarized reaction online. Critics argue Adams’ language was unbecoming of a former public official, even after leaving office. Supporters, however, say the woman’s taunting justified a blunt response, particularly in light of Adams’ recent controversies, including backlash tied to the failed NYC Token cryptocurrency initiative.
Adams, a retired NYPD captain, stepped down from office on January 1, 2026, amid federal corruption charges. Neither Adams nor the woman involved in the exchange has publicly commented as of publication.
