(Queens, New York) – A video circulating online appears to show protesters marching in Queens chanting, “Say it loud, say it clear, we support Hamas here,” drawing swift backlash across social media. The clip, shared widely on X, has reignited concerns about extremist rhetoric appearing at U.S. demonstrations, particularly as tensions remain high over the war in the Middle East. Hamas is designated a terrorist organization by the United States.
Reaction on X was immediate and fierce, with users questioning how such views can coexist in a pluralistic society. “How are we supposed to share a society with people this profoundly sick?” one commenter wrote, while another called for federal authorities to intervene. Others framed the incident as emblematic of New York City’s political direction, repeatedly posting, “Mamdani’s NYC.”
Some commenters went further, drawing direct political comparisons and slogans aimed at Mayor Zohran Mamdani, including posts reading, “Mamdani is Hamas, Hamas is Mamdani.” While there has been no confirmation of who organized the protest or how representative the chants were of the broader crowd, the footage has intensified conservative criticism that city leaders have allowed extremist ideology to surface unchecked in public demonstrations.
