(New York, New York) – Former President Donald Trump escalated his attacks on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Sunday, accusing him of massive corruption and suggesting Walz could leave office before the end of his term.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed Walz would not seek re-election and alleged he had been “caught, REDHANDED,” alongside Rep. Ilhan Omar and others, stealing “tens of billions of taxpayer dollars.” Trump did not cite specific cases, investigations, or court findings to support the allegation.
“I feel certain the facts will come out,” Trump wrote, calling those he accused a “seriously unscrupulous, and rich, group of ‘SLIMEBALLS.’” He added that Walz had “destroyed the State of Minnesota.”
Trump expanded his criticism beyond Minnesota, also targeting Democratic governors Gavin ‘Newscum’ as Trump put it, JB Pritzker, and Kathy Hochul, whom he described as “even more dishonest and incompetent,” adding, “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW!”
The post comes as Walz has already announced he will not seek re-election in 2026, a decision he said was made to focus on governing amid controversy and scrutiny over fraud cases tied to state-administered programs. Walz has denied wrongdoing and said his administration is taking steps to prevent future fraud.
Neither Walz’s office nor Omar responded directly to Trump’s latest accusations. No criminal charges have been announced against Walz or Omar related to the claims made in Trump’s post.
The remarks quickly spread online, drawing praise from Trump supporters who argue they reflect long-overdue accountability, while critics dismissed the statements as inflammatory rhetoric lacking evidence.
