(New York, NY)  —  Souvenir shops in the city are looking to cash in now that Zohran Mamdani is mayor. The city shops are really known for tchotchkes for tourists, with everything stamped with the I Love NY logo. So, it’s not often you have a local politician with national recognition, like we do now.  Currently, we have Zohran Mamdani’s face on T-shirts appearing on store shelves and selling from ten bucks to 25-dollars.  Traditionally, such merch features national figures like presidents or cultural icons, so seeing a local mayor’s images on tees in Times Square has been a new development tied directly to Mamdani’s rise.

During his campaign, Mamdani had largely not sold merchandise himself, focusing on grassroots organizing rather than retail goods.  But his supporters and independent shops quickly filled that gap with a variety of T-shirt designs and political apparel offered online and in stores, from classic campaign tees to retro-style prints.

Meantime, one store in Times Square said it’s sold hundreds of Mamdani shirts since October and some businesses are planning new Mamdani products that include bobbleheads, key chains magnets and hats.
