(New York, NY) – Every year, as December comes to a close, Sid Rosenberg takes a well-earned break from Sid and Friends in the Morning. In the past it meant an extended chance for Curtis Sliwa to host as a fill-in, but now — with the Guardian Angels founder carving out a home “further down the dial” — 77 WABC owner-operator John Catsimatidis takes the mic. And it’s been my pleasure to host alongside him, as part of the “Cats, Flip, and Flickinger” version of SIFM.

It was already enough of a trip, rotating through an eclectic cast of characters, as powered by John’s connections — but then the leader of the free world called as well.

But that led into a full week of guest hosting, in which the conversation ranged from Islamic clerics and imams to doctors who specialize in stem cells — in order to boost vision. We chatted with Long Island’s longtime Congressman Peter King, and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman — who said he is the “foil” to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Former FBI agent and special deputy in charge of New York George Venizelos gave us the breakdown of Times Square security, and he praised the NYPD for the ability to pull it all off so flawlessly. Local cops and federal partners work in lockstep to pull off one of the world’s most impressive events in terms of size and scope.

Of course, wind power was also discussed — and its downside. The cost, lack of durability, and national security concerns were all laid bare in our discussion. Everyday, PR extraordinaire Todd Shapiro joined us. He was also with Mayor Eric Adams as they attended Mamdani’s inauguration — which was cold, filled with communism, and did not live up to its billing as a “block party.”

The discussions we had each day were wide-ranging and informative. That’s a pursuit we’re passionate about at 77 WABC. John Catsimatidis Jr. joined to talk about stopping corruption, as well as the upside for AI in 2026. And Andrea Catsimatidis, the daughter of John and Margo — also joined, from Germany, as she celebrated New Year’s in Europe.

Enjoy these select cuts from the week that was, with Sid away — the Cats did play.
