(New York, NY) — The curtain is about to rise on the era of Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani as mayor of New York City.
New Year’s Day brings two swearing-in ceremonies: a private one at midnight January 1st with Attorney General Letitia James doing the honors at the old Cit Hall Subway Station.
The public one at 1 p.m. New Year’s Day on the steps of City Hall. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is administering the oath of office after Bronx Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduces Zohran Mamdani. A huge RSVP-only block party with 40-thousand people expected will be on Broadway in the Canyon of Heroes.
Outgoing Mayor Eric Adams will be at Mamdani’s inauguration, plus former Mayor Bill de Blasio.
